„When I started CrossFit a year ago, I thought it was just going to be a way to get a good workout in and get stronger. Little did I know that CrossFit would also help me gain confidence, more grit when I face challenges, and it has made me a better person overall. I look forward to my hour of CrossFit Teens class each day and being cheered on by the coaches when I am struggling with the workout. The coaches have a great way of helping me embrace the struggle. When I don’t think I can lift more weight, my coaches believe in me. It feels awesome to add weight to my barbell and I feel so confident in myself when I am done. CrossFit has helped me get more grit. Before I didn’t push through the struggle, but now I can, and I have become a better swimmer. I’ve dropped times in almost all of my events. I know that if I can get through a struggle of a WOD, I can take on the pool. This mindset has also helped me take on the challenges that middle school throws at me. Als Polizist kommt man im Laufe seiner Dienstzeit in die verschiedensten Lagen. Manche fordern dich eher körperlich, manche eher mental. Oftmals wird beides gleichermaßen von einem gefordert. Hier kann CrossFit meiner Meinung nach sehr helfen. Nicht nur das körperliche Training, welches den Fitnesslevel erhöht bzw. erhält, sind als positiv zu erachten. Auch der mentale Effekt, der bei jedem WOD dazu kommt, hilft mir, auch schwere oder unangenehme Situationen durchzustehen. Man darf nicht aufgeben und muss bis zum Schluss alles geben. Im Dienst und auch in jedem Workout.
Nebenbei bekomme ich durch ein anstrengendes Workout einen freien Kopf und fühle mich ausgeglichen. So kann ich jeden Tag neu durchstarten.
Ich kann jedem empfehlen, CrossFit wenigstens mal auszuprobieren.

If you told me a year ago that I would be a part of a CrossFit gym, I’d have told you you’re out of your mind. Now, I’m immersed into the community. So why the switch and what keeps me coming back?
After coming to a couple free class Fridays, or as I like to call it “friends and family day,” I realized that CrossFit is more than just this lifestyle of fitness. The people at CFKL are welcoming, encouraging, challenging, supportive and it makes working out more fun. I’m not always enthusiastic to pick up weights at 6am, but I’m excited to see the people. The friends that I have made in class have become family. That is what also keeps me coming back. The community of people at CFKL are not just people I workout with, they are who I do life with. All the while they push me to get better, add a little more weight, go faster, fix my posture, etc. While we all do not have the same goals we are all here for a common purpose: complete the workout of the day and continually get better at the movements whether moving faster and/or increasing weights. I enjoy starting my day off with those at the gym and will continue to do so while here in Germany.
